London, day one

fish n chips

London is fabulous. So totally different than any place I’ve ever been (but I’ve never been out of the US so this isn’t surprising). Here’s some thoughts on our travel so far…

  • Our flight was cancelled because of bad weather
  • We were lucky and got on the next flight
  • Our luggage has yet to catch up with us
  • We’re wearing the same clothes as we were on Wednesday
  • GH’s sneakers have developed an unusual aroma
  • It’s similar to either bad meat or good cheese
  • We fear that if the odor escapes it may spark an international incident
  • I’m actually overjoyed that there is a clothesline in our WC
  • We explored the West End last night
  • Today we went to the Imperial War Museum…very cool exhibit of tanks, planes, and artillery
  • My camera is almost out of power and the charger is in my luggage
  • We’ve eaten some great fish and chips, fabulous macarons, and okay chinese
  • It is cold and overcast but we are having fun
  • YEEHAW…one of our bags just arrived…3 more to go!

Make sure you have a curry at some point!

I recommend the Charles Lamb - it’s a tiny pub near King’s Cross station (or Angel) - bit tricky to find but good instructions on their site (http://www.thecharleslambpub.com/location.htm). They have a good selection of real ale and you must try that too!

Glad you are enjoying London even without a full set of clothes!

It’s no so wonderful really. I’m a daft northener who just gets confused when I go down there.

Did you notice that noone in the capital is English? Just an observation.

Have fun in the UK! :)

I’m pleased to read that you’re enjoying London and hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.

I also am more than a wee bit envious: My family and I lived in England for two years, and I absolutely loved London!

    Cheers from Monona!
