My kitchen, other blogging events, and our favorite meal

Have you been to Lucullian delights? This is a beautiful food blog from Italy and the author, Ilva Berretta recently posted on IMBB and urged us all to post photos of our kitchens. Because I’ve never done this I thought it would be an easy task. It turned out to be as easy as trying to get a good photo of a 45 year old woman in a swimsuit. Sure you can take all the pictures you want, just don’t expect to like any of them.
We love our kitchen and it is our refuge and laboratory. High points that you won’t want to miss include the kitchen window shrine with a picture of a Hindu deity for good marriage, several wheat-head pennies, Buddha, and various stones and crystals given to me over the years. On the refrigerator is a finger puppet of Nietzsche, and a magnet of Nixon and Elvis shaking hands, Buddha also sits up high on top of a cabinet, blessing all with his tranquility.
The table always has something to read on it because the adults are readers when we eat. There is also a remote for the DVD in the family room because the boys prefer The Simpsons when they eat. Anyway, you get the picture. We’re an enigmatic group that likes to eat.

I also entered this in the Weekend Breakfast Blogging Event hosted by Saffron Trail.
I also have intentions to participate in next weekend’s Weekend Herb Blogging, hosted by Scott at Real Epicurean. Scott’s blog is one of my favorites and his comments and encouragement here have been greatly appreciated.
By January 22 I hope to have submitted to Spitton Extra‘s Waiter There’s Something In My…Stew event. That one seems right up my alley. Andrew’s blog has stunning photos to go with his masterful recipes. Check it out.
I’ve got the photo for Dispensing Happiness‘ Black and White Blog Party but I still have to write it up. Stephanie seems to host and participate in many events and I don’t know how she does it but I certainly do appreciate it.
I find that doing events keeps my blog going, especially when we want to eat our favorite things which you may not want to see again and again. Last night it was burgers and hash-browns. Dave and I love this meal and for us its the perfect comfort food. We often eat it on Saturday night when the children are otherwise occupied.

I came here to nose around your kitchen and, in reading, find you mention me! Thanks for the kind words. I am looking forward to your stew btw and now off to take a pic of my kitchen.

You have a hot pink kitchen like Rachel’s (another entrant to Show Us Your Kitchen). How cool!
Sally, its actually “Knockout Red” but it is colorful. Is that wall in your kitchen red, orange, or pink? Thanks for stopping by.
Anjali, thanks for stopping by. I love your post about your Aunt’s kitchen.
That is a un-geek kitchen! It looks more comfortable and cozy to me. Thanks for sharing.
Vanessa – my kitchen is beige :( That was just the sunlight reflecting in.
