Best pizza in the world

John’s on Bleeker Street in NYC. It is hard to describe how it transcends all other pizzas. It has to do with the crisp, smoky crust, the tangy cheese, and the smooth sauce. There is no other pizza like it. BTW…avoid, at all costs, the John’s on the upper east side of Manhattan. It is not even a red-headed stepchild to the original.
In Madison we eat at Roman Candle pizza on Willy Street. Its the best in town and although not nearly as good as John’s they are close and they use local products.

What beautiful food porn! My wife and I have always been partial to Glass Nickel’s Mediterranean pizza if we order out, though replicating it at home is somehow so much more satisfying with homemade pesto made with Farmer’s Market basil and cooked on a pizza stone. Decadence. Roman Candle has been on the short list for a while. We will try their pizza next! BTW…the wood-fired pizza at Natt Spill and the thin crust pizza at Greenbush Bar in the basement of the Italian Workman’s Club are our other favorites.
Vanessa, you were right. We took my in-laws here last night and couldn’t stop raving about Roman Candle’s pizza. The Pestoral is our new favorite.
I love their pizza, they use local ingredients too. In February they’re opening a Roman Candle in Middleton.
